As Senior Director, Retention Marketing, you will lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for Sephora’s email, mobile messaging, SMS and direct mail programs. This position reports to the Vice President, Digital Marketing & Media and is a critical leader not just with vehicles but also in support and collaboration of Sephora’s CRM and Personalization initiatives. This is a senior leadership role responsible for dynamic marketing initiatives as well as a large, highly cross-functional, and results-oriented team.

Responsibilities

  • Define retention marketing vision, strategies and roadmaps to drive channel growth, effectiveness, and innovation
  • Lead email (broadcast, behavioral, triggered, transactional), mobile (app push, SMS), and direct mail programs to drive both short-term (traffic, sales) and long-term (CLV, brand metrics) Sephora goals
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and changes that will allow Sephora to continue to deliver best-in-class retention marketing experiences
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and CRM teams to define business requirements and vehicle best-in-class needs within our marketing technology stack
  • Support a test & learn mindset, identifying a testing agenda against key client and business priorities and defining how to scale winning tests throughout vehicles
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with key business partners including Tech, CRM, Merchandising, Category Marketing, Loyalty, Promo, Analytics and Paid Media to ensure alignment and effective prioritization of messaging and strategies against goals
  • Oversee strategic relationships with key retention marketing platforms (i.e. ESP and mobile messaging platforms, deep-linking, location-based services)
  • Stay tuned in for continuous improvement opportunities within channel execution, operations, performance and process
  • Manage and mentor a team of 20+ retention marketers and retention operation specialists, developing and retaining high-performing talent and building a positive team culture

Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant digital marketing experience
  • 5+ years team leadership experience
  • Proven strategic thinking, analytical data interpretation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to navigate a sophisticated marketing technology stack of both internally built tools and third-party platforms
  • Passion for using data to drive decisions and ensure the best possible experience to Sephora clients
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners at all levels
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with ability to prioritize most important initiatives for the team
  • Experience coaching and managing multiple direct reports, partnering on development plans
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
