Court Security Officer
Under the general supervision of the Administrative Services Commander or designee responsible for security of the County Courthouse while working in the capacity of Court Security Officer. This position will be selected at the discretion of the Sheriff.<br> <p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 10.0px;color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;text-align: justify;"><strong><strong><strong style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"><span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">**Applications are accepted until there are sufficient numbers of qualified applications or qualified candidate has been identified. The position could possibly close at any time.**</span></strong></strong></strong></p><ol><li>Responsible for watching individuals entering the County Courthouse building to insure the safety to those inside including workers and those who are here on other matters.<li>Making security checks of the courthouse and its perimeter on foot for contraband and weapons.<li>Directing people through the people mover and having them place objects in containers and on the belt for inspection.<li>Stand and monitor the x-ray machine to look for weapons.<li>Standing and observing the Magnetometer, walking over to where the individual is, when necessary; and use a handheld scanner on the individual. This is subject to what part of the body the Magnetometer declared an alarm in and may involve bending and wanding.<li>Switching positions from x-ray operator to Magnetometer operator on 1-hour intervals to avoid excess exposure to the x-ray machine.<li>Assisting deputies with an arrest, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints.<li>Qualifying at the range from positions which include: standing, kneeling, and prone.<li>Must be able to work all hours when necessary including mornings, afternoons, and evening meetings; occasionally upon short notice.<li> Including Central Dispatch what the issue might be.<li>Communicate verbally and effectively by listening to people and by giving information, directions, and commands.<li>Load, unload, aim and fire handguns, shotguns, rifles, and other agency firearms from a variety of body positions in situations that justify the use of deadly force while maintaining emotional control under extreme stress.</ol><strong><u><strong><u>OTHER FUNCTIONS: </u></strong></u></strong><br> <ol><li>Other duties as directed by a higher authority.</ol>This list may not be inclusive of the total scope of the job functions to be performed.
