Role Overview

  • Position: AI Task Designer – Contractor, Remote
  • Up to 40 hours per week for a minimum of 6 weeks with potential extensions.
  • Enhance large-language-model performance by creating and evaluating realistic reasoning tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with Mercor coordinators and the client’s research leads to develop challenging tasks for AI models.
  • Write gold-standard solutions and evaluate AI-generated responses for clarity, accuracy, and comprehensiveness.
  • Excel at deep reading and synthesizing information across various domains to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Validate and polish AI-generated answers using strong fact-checking and editing skills.
  • Apply analytical judgment to identify inconsistencies, gaps, or misinterpretations in draft outputs.
  • Communicate crisply in writing, producing clear, concise, well-structured answers with high attention to detail.

Requirements / Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Experience in roles such as technical writers, editors, research analysts, academic editors, content reviewers, legislative analysts, reading-comprehension specialists, assessment authors, curriculum designers, or instructional designers.
  • Demonstrable experience creating Q&A, summaries, or problem-solving tasks for long-form content.
  • Strong fact-checking and editing skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information quickly across various domains.
  • Excellent written communication skills with high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in AI model evaluation or similar fields.
  • Background in STEM domains or related areas.
